The Journey of "Quiet Island"

We delayed our departure from Charlevoix a bit, hoping the fog would lift, but it never did. Another day of sailing, with little forward visibility. But we did have a good west wind.

We bypassed Leland because we heard the water depth in the entrance channel was too shallow for us to get in. South of the Manitou Islands we decided to try a crossing over to Algoma, WI. About 15 miles offshore, we heard a Coast Guard radio transmission warning of severe thunderstorms in central Wisconsin with tornado warnings, and it was all moving east. Towards us.

So we turned back towards Frankfort, and beat the worst of the rain by about 3 hours. We walked into town and had a burger, and after we got back to the boat, the skies opened up with heavy rain & hail. But we sure slept good.
