Saugatuck, MI Saugatuck Harbor is formed by a dredged entrance channel and the lower part of the Kalamazoo River. A radar dome on Mt. Baldhead, about 1 mile S of the entrance, is prominent. The entrance channel leads between parallel piers and upstream about 2.1 miles to Saugatuck. The outer ends of the piers are marked by lights. Caution: Submerged pilings at the former channel entrance of the river extend into the lake about 200 ft. and are marked by a buoy. Full services are available.
South Pierhead Light: 42 40.6 N 86 12.9 W Saugatuck Entrance Refer to NOAA Chart 14906 The Village of Saugatuck is on the N side of Kalamazoo Lake and the E side of the river below the lake. Saugatuck Harbor is the lower 2 miles of the Kalamazoo River and is from 200 feet to 500 feet wide. Caution: A cable ferry crosses the river 2 miles above the mouth. Do not pass within 30 feet of its bow or stern. Not for Navigation. Refer to NOAA Chart 14906.
