Great Lakes
A landmark port to be enjoyed only in passing.

While cruising offshore north of Chicago, about midway between Wilmette and Waukegan, you will spot what looks like a major port of call guarded by a large breakwall system and clearly marked with navigation aids. This is Great Lakes Naval Training Center (A). They won't turn you away if you're desperate, but you shouldn't think of this port as a cruising destination.
